Muskegon received nearly a foot of snow on October 31st (11.5 inches). A report of nine inches of snow was received from Whitehall. The weight of the heavy wet snow brought down numerous trees and limbs and power lines and close to 40,000 power outages occurred in Muskegon county. Travel conditions became very poor with numerous accidents across Muskegon county.

Wider weather episode

A lake enhanced early season heavy snow event occurred across mainly western portions of Muskegon and Ottawa counties where up to around a foot of heavy wet snow fell in and near Muskegon. The heavy wet snow caused treacherous travel conditions resulting in numerous accidents. The weight of the heavy wet snow also brought down numerous trees and limbs in and near the Muskegon area and tens of thousands of power outages were reported, mainly across Muskegon county.
