A 61 mph gust was measured at the Schodack New York State Mesonet.

A frontal boundary and low pressure system located to the west and east of eastern New York was the focus for rounds of showers and thunderstorms each day September 7-9. Strong to severe thunderstorms were more widespread on September 7-8. These storms resulted in numerous reports of tree and powerline damage, as well as thousands without power and several road closures. Some school districts across Columbia County delayed classes or closed on September 8 as a result of the severe thunderstorms on September 7.
