Quarter size hail was reported along Gela Road near the town of Lewis.

A lee trough east of the North Carolina Appalachians amid a warm and moist atmosphere led to the development of widely isolated showers and storms over the central North Carolina Piedmont in the evening hours. A few storms produced quarter-size hail and damaging winds over Stanly, Anson, and Granville Counties.
