Event narrative
Up to seven inches of rain fell in a short amount of time causing flash flooding. In the Rosebud area, several roads were covered. Also, 4 vehicles had to be pulled out of the water. No injuries were reported. About a mile east of Drake, Highway ZZ was closed due to flash flooding. About 4 miles east northeast of Mount Sterling, the east bound lane of U.S. Highway 50 was closed at Highway K due to flooding.
Wider weather episode
A swath of strong to severe storms with very heavy rainfall rates moved southeast across portions of northern and central Missouri during the early morning hours of August 2nd. There were several reports of flash flooding.
