The entire zone remained in Severe(D2) drought throughout September. The Hillsboro Cooperative Observer reported 2.24 inches of precipitation which was 0.27 inches above normal.

Another month with most areas receiving below normal monsoon season precipitation lead to all areas of southern New Mexico being put into Severe(D2) to Exceptional(D4) drought.
