The entire zone remained in Severe(D2) drought throughout the month of September. The Cloudcroft Cooperative Observer recorded 2.83 inches of precipitation which was 0.40 inches below normal.

Wider weather episode

Another month with most areas receiving below normal monsoon season precipitation lead to all areas of southern New Mexico being put into Severe(D2) to Exceptional(D4) drought.
