The month started with the east in Extreme(D3) drought and the west in Severe(D2) drought. By the end of September, the entire zone was in Extreme(D3) drought.

Wider weather episode

Another month with most areas receiving below normal monsoon season precipitation lead to all areas of southern New Mexico being put into Severe(D2) to Exceptional(D4) drought.
