The Comanche County-City Airport AWOS measured 50 kts of wind.

North and Central Texas were situated beneath the eastern flank of a mid and upper level high pressure ridge during the early to middle part of the month. Multiple disturbances within the flow aloft, along with a weak surface front, resulted in thunderstorm development each day during the weekend of Sept 8-11. A few of these storms became severe with mainly damaging downburst winds.
