As a deep upper trough moved further west into the western Gulf Mexico, high pressure was in the process of rebuilding north of the Florida Keys. Speed convergency resulting from the increased east-southeast flow aided in the development of widespread showers and thunderstorms, including scattered gale-force convective wind gusts.
