Event narrative

Severe thunderstorm outflow wind gusts downed trees and wires on Depot and Summer Street in Kennebunkport.

Wider weather episode

A strong mid-level trough ejected out of New York and pushed from southwest to northeast across New England during the day on September 8th. This feature had ample low level instability to work with as the region was experiencing well above normal temperatures and moisture for early September. All these ingredients came together to bring a line of severe thunderstorms to the area with strong damaging straight-line wind gusts being the primary hazard.
