Portions of the zone was under D2 to D4 drought due to minimal rainfall.

With ridging sitting over the area for the better part of September, all of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi saw significantly less rainfall than usual for September. This lead to continuation of drought conditions during the whole month of September.
