A compact but strong upper level trough moved out of New Mexico into the Texas Panhandle on the afternoon of the 30th. Although surface temperatures were relatively cool, modest instability for late November allowed a few isolated thunderstorms to develop. One of these storms produced penny size hail in Kirkland (Childress County).
