Wider weather episode
As abnormally dry conditions continued across Middle Tennessee, drought conditions worsened across the area. By the end of November, about 70 percent of the area remained in at least a severe drought with about 37 percent of that area in the extreme drought category. Extreme drought conditions expanded across the Cumberland Plateau where rainfall amounts during the month were generally less than 1.5 inches. Elsewhere, drought conditions slightly improved for the northwest portion of the area where late month storm systems produced about 2 to 3 inches of rain. However, Nashville's rainfall deficit continued to worsen at about 10 inches below normal for the year.
