Event narrative

Snowfall of 4 to 8 inches was reported along the higher elevations of southern Lake County with a high report of 8.4 inches 7 miles north-northwest of Two Harbors.

Wider weather episode

Low pressure passing the south of Lake Superior led to a lake-effect snow event that affected parts of both the North and South Shores of Lake Superior starting the evening of the 30th and continuing into the 31st. The lake-effect band affected parts of the North Shore first in the Two Harbors and Silver Bay areas before moving south and east over portions of Douglas and Bayfield counties along the South Shore later in the event. Localized snowfall totals of 4 to 8 inches were reported under the band.
