Event narrative

Drought conditions that developed during the summer continued into the fall. Severe Drought (D2) was confined to the western third of the county throughout the month. Over the rest of the county, Moderate Drought (D1) covered the central third and the far south along the Oneida County line with Abnormally Dry (D0) conditions over the northeast quarter of the county through the 30th. Heavy rain was reported between the 24th and 27th with some location reporting 1 to 3 inches of rain. By the end of the month, Abnormally Dry (D0) conditions prevailed over the eastern half of the county while Moderate Drought (D1) was noted across the western half of the county, except for Severe Drought (D2) along the Price County line.

Wider weather episode

Drought conditions that developed during the summer continued into the fall. Through the 24th, Extreme Drought (D3) continued across much of Oneida, northeast Lincoln and northwest Langlade counties. Severe Drought (D2) to Moderate Drought (D1) was reported over the rest of the area except across northeast Vilas County where Abnormally Dry (D0) conditions prevailed. Much needed and sometimes heavy rainfall was recorded from the 24th through the 27th. On the October 31st U.S. Monitor, Extreme Drought (D3) was no longer reported across north-central Wisconsin. Locations that were in the Extreme Drought (D3) throughout much of the month were now classified as being in Severe Drought (D2).
