The entire zone started October in Severe(D2) drought and finished the month in Extreme(D3) drought. The Mountain Park Cooperative Observer recorded 0.82 inches of precipitation which was 0.85 inches below normal.

Wider weather episode

October continued the run of below normal rainfall for southwest New Mexico which kept Severe(D2) to Exceptional(D4) drought conditions going through the month.
