Wider weather episode
A complex storm system developed over the region with two features producing snow over North Dakota. Initially, a strong short-wave trough and affiliated cold front pushed into the region with snow developing during the very early morning hours of October 25 over the northern parts of North Dakota, continuing through much of the day. Some locations then experienced a brief break in snowfall before the stronger closed low moved across the Rockies into the Northern Plains bringing widespread snow over much of the region on October 26. The snow then quickly ended from southwest to northeast during the overnight hours of October 26-27. The greatest reported snow amount from this storm was 16 inches, which was reported at both Stanley in Mountrail County and Hebron in Morton County.
