Event narrative
October began with D2 Severe Drought across the entirety of the county. Rainfall for the month was near to slightly below normal, but rainfall late in September and the early part of the month was not enough to lead to the removal of D2 Severe Drought anywhere throughout the month.
Wider weather episode
Drought conditions persisted across northwest Wisconsin during the month of October, but significant improvement was seen. All areas of D3 Extreme Drought were removed by the end of the month with significant reductions in areas of D2 Severe Drought by the end of the month as well. Rainfall was near to slightly below normal for the month, but was enough along with lingering wet conditions from September to lead to the improvement in October.
