Wider weather episode
Several gale-force peak convective wind gusts impacted the OH and PA shore of Lake Erie on August 6th and 10th. During the early afternoon through early evening of the 6th, a surface low drifted northeastward from northwestern OH to Lake St. Clair. The low became occluded as the trailing cold front moved eastward from far-western OH to central OH and a nearly-stationary front lingered near the Lake Erie shore in north-central and northeast OH. Isolated to scattered multicell thunderstorms persisted generally northeastward across far-northern OH and Lake Erie during the late afternoon through early evening after developing along the occluded and nearly-stationary fronts. These storms occurred along a tight gradient of MUCAPE and in a region of weak to moderate MUCAPE and moderate effective bulk shear.
Several days later, a cold front drifted generally southward across southern ON and southern Lower MI to northern Lake Erie during the early afternoon through early evening of the 10th. Isolated to scattered multicell showers and thunderstorms persisted generally southeastward across Lake Erie after developing along the front. The storms persisted amidst weak to moderate MUCAPE and moderate to strong effective bulk shear.
