Event narrative
Four cars had people trapped in them due to ponding water on Avenida Las Americas in Ponce near a Tasty Chicken restaurant. The emergency manager reported that the flooding was above the tires of the trucks and his waist. Ave. Las Americas was closed as it was impassable from Tasty Chicken to La Secretaria de Recreacion y Deportes Building. The authorities have the Avenida closed. The people trapped were rescued.
Wider weather episode
External feeding bands and moisture field from hurricane Tammy moving well east and north of the region reached the local islands. Additionally, a nearby TUTT and remnants of T.C. Sean also helped promote rain activity. Flooding reports where received as strong showers and thunderstorms affected the island leaving around from 2 to 5 inches of rain, particularly across Eastern Interior, E/SE, Western-Western Interior and South-Central Puerto Rico as well as the metro area. A funnel cloud was detected within this activity.
