Drought — Northern Livingston Parish, Louisiana
2023-10-01 to 2023-10-31 · Northern Livingston Parish, Louisiana
Event narrative
The parish was under D3-D4 drought for the entire month.
Wider weather episode
The overall weather pattern over the previous few months had been unusually dry with the entire region starting October in D3 or D4 drought. October is typically one of the drier months of the local area and this year was no different. Although some cold fronts moved through, little or no rain fell. Areal ASOS (automated surface observing systems) sites only measured appreciable rainfall on 1 day of the entire month. Thus, D3-D4 conditions persisted.
