A wind gust of 35 knots was measured at the navigational light at Sombrero Key as a convective shower passed.

A strong ridge to the north of the Florida Keys produced a fast easterly and turbulent east-northeast lower tropospheric flow. Shallow instability over the Florida Keys coastal waters resulted in scattered shower development along with isolated gale-force convective wind gusts.
