Event narrative

Public reported to 911 Call Center a mudslide or debris flow affecting road PR-14 between KM 43.9 and 44.0 in Bo Algarrobo in Aibonito, near the border with Coamo. The road was never fully impassable.

Wider weather episode

Moisture pulled into the region by TC Tammy (by that time well north of the area), in combination with an upper-level trough, a frontal boundary and a pre-frontal trough, produced numerous showers and thunderstorms across the islands. Between 3 and 7 inches of rain were observed across the northern, eastern, and central portions of Puerto Rico. Several Debris Flow episodes and at least 1 case of wind damage were reported. Swells from Tammy also produced hazardous marine and coastal conditions, resulting in coastal flood in several northern areas.
