Event narrative

Due to winds, a tree fell on top of a car that was moving along the Martinez Nadal Expressway (PR-20), close to an Econo Supermarket in Altamira.

Wider weather episode

Moisture pulled into the region by TC Tammy (by that time well north of the area), in combination with an upper-level trough, a frontal boundary and a pre-frontal trough, produced numerous showers and thunderstorms across the islands. Between 3 and 7 inches of rain were observed across the northern, eastern, and central portions of Puerto Rico. Several Debris Flow episodes and at least 1 case of wind damage were reported. Swells from Tammy also produced hazardous marine and coastal conditions, resulting in coastal flood in several northern areas.
