The entire zone transitioned from Severe(D2) drought to Extreme(D3) drought by the end of the month.

Wider weather episode

Below normal precipitation was once again noted across southern New Mexico which helped to expand Extreme(D3) to Exceptional(D4) drought to almost the entire area.
