The Chupadera RAWS measured peak gusts of 86 and 74 mph over the course of one hour.
Wider weather episode
A strong section of the jetstream brought high winds translating to the surface over parts of south-central and southeastern NM stretching from the Upper Tularosa Valley to Roswell. Peak gusts of 60 to 86 mph were measured by various mesonet and ASOS sites. No damage or injuries were reported.
