Event narrative

Seven individuals in a homeless encampment near a bridge near Kapiolani Boulevard were rescued by Honolulu Fire Department after being swept away by rushing storm water. Emergency Medical Services was reported to have said that a woman in her twenties was treated and sent to the hospital in serious condition for severe hypothermia.

Abundant low level moisture and atmospheric instability led to periods of heavy rainfall with flooding over portions of the islands.
