Event narrative

Strong winds developed on the north side of the Alaska Range. Wind gusts up to 75 mph were observed at the K24KX Donnelly Dome USARRAY site.

Wider weather episode

A powerful storm to hurricane force low moved into the Gulf of Alaska and then into the Western Interior, rapidly tightening the pressure gradient across the state. Strong winds developed ahead of the low and was accompanied by widespread accumulating snowfall and blowing snow.
