At the Glasgow Airport ASOS site (KGGW), intermittent visibilities of a quarter mile or less was recorded for about 10 hours from the late night of the 1st to the mid morning of the 2nd.

Wider weather episode

Moisture increased over the area by a fast moving clipper system on January 1st which allowed dense freezing fog to form during the morning of January 2nd.
