A winter storm produced 6 to 7 inches in the higher elevations of Columbia County as snow began in the early afternoon hours of January 6, 2024 and continued through the evening hours.
Wider weather episode
Low pressure stationed off the New England Coast allowed for a long duration snowfall across much of central Pennsylvania beginning in the morning hours of January 6th with the bulk of snowfall ending in the evening hours. As the low pressure system moved further east on January 7th, northwesterly flow allowed for orographically enhanced snow showers to continue into January 7th along the Allegheny Mountains.
