Event narrative

A winter storm produced 3 to 4 inches of snowfall across York County beginning in the evening hours of January 15th and continuing into the late morning hours of January 16th. There were multiple accidents throughout the county, with Interstate 83 being closed in both directions for a period of time due to a pedestrian being struck and killed during the event. Outside of the fatality, no other injuries were reported throughout the county.

Wider weather episode

A rather disorgranized system brought an extended period of generally light snow to central Pennsylvania from the afternoon of January 15 through the morning of January 16, 2024. Snowfall amounts ranged from an inch or less across the northwest mountains up to 4 to 5 inches across the far Lower Susquehanna Valley. Slightly higher amounts were observed across portions of Tioga County.
