Several boats capsized in Biscayne Bay, with one report at the Venetian Marina as a result of strong winds during the early morning hours of November 16th. Mesonet station wind gusts on Biscayne Bay were as high as 65 mph/57 knots, with sustained winds measured up to 48 mph/42 knots.
Wider weather episode
As a strengthening low-pressure system moved across the Florida Keys into the Atlantic, a wake-low developed on the backside of the system's precipitation field. This resulted in strong winds across the nearshore Atlantic Waters on the morning of November 16th.
