What the National Weather Service wrote
Large waves from a strong thunderstorm capsized a 24 foot boat. Three men went into the water and held on to the wreckage. While waiting for help to arrive, one man had a heart attack and died. The other two were rescued by passing boats. They sustained minor injuries.
The wider storm
A sea breeze boundary, combined with a shortwave trough, fired off strong thunderstorms that pushed off the coast of North Carolina.
Began near Lockwood Folly Inlet (33.7500, -78.0900).
