Strengthening high pressure over central California brought clearing skies and light winds to the area during the morning of January 28. This allowed for areas of dense fog to form along the SR 99 corridor and traffic was impacted between Merced and Bakersfield by sunrise, with visibility be0ing reduced below 500 feet in some locations. The fog completely dissipated by late morning.
