Four probable hypothermia deaths occurred from January 12-15th according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office. Dangerous wind chill temperatures from 20 below to 30 below zero were observed for much of the time from early morning on January 14th until early morning on January 17th.

Brisk westerly winds following the passage of strong low pressure brought an arctic air mass to southern Wisconsin. Several days and nights of dangerous wind chill temperatures were observed. Warming centers were opened in many cities and some schools were delayed or cancelled. Several hypothermia deaths occurred in Milwaukee County from January 12-15th.
