Event narrative

A combination of COOP observers, CoCoRaHS observers, and public reports included snowfall amounts of approximately 6 to 12 inches of snow. Some selected snowfall reports include 6.0 inches at 1 E Ogden, 9.0 inches at Fruit Heights, and 12.0 inches at 1 NE Pleasant View. The majority of this snow fell from the evening of 1/6 through the morning of 1/7, with lighter lingering snow persisting around the area through early 1/8.

Wider weather episode

After a very brief respite from a more modest winter system in the preceding days, another stronger winter system moved through the Intermountain West. This system brought accumulating snow to much of Utah, with some areas receiving more substantial amounts. Additionally, a fatal vehicle accident occurred in this time as a result of black ice.
