Event narrative

Heavy snow with visibilities below 1/4 were reported along Seward Highway and the Whittier Access Road. Alaska 511 reported extremely difficult road conditions due to the heavy snow with observations showing the reduced visibilities.

Wider weather episode

A strong low pressure system moved north from the North Pacific toward southcentral Alaska on 12/9 through 12/13 as the system, which consisted of a series of low pressure systems brought repeating periods of heavy snow and winds to the region extending from the Kenai Peninsula into the greater Prince William Sound.
