Convective snow showers the evening of December 18th and morning of December 19th caused 1 to 2 inches of snow in portions of northern WV.

The passage of two troughs, one over the East Coast and another over the Great Lakes, created a long duration winter weather event. Convective snow showers started the afternoon of December 18th and created a few intense snow bands; 1 inch of snow in 30 minutes was recorded by an NWS employee. The lower elevations received 1-3 inches from snow showers that were inconsistent in intensity across the region. For the higher terrain, snow measurements ranged from 6-12 inches due to higher precipitation amounts from upsloping and higher snow ratios.
