Drought — Lower Terrebonne, Louisiana

2023-12-01 to 2023-12-31 · Lower Terrebonne, Louisiana

Event narrative

An abnormally dry summer and fall lead to continuing D2 to D4 drought conditions across the zone.

Wider weather episode

Drought conditions that started late summer continued across most of southeast Louisiana through the month of December. By this point in the year, multiple observational sites were running at a 10 to 30 inch annual rainfall deficit. Multiple rounds of rainfall aided in some improving conditions for parts of southeast Louisiana, so some areas were allowed to drop out of D2 drought at various points throughout the month, while some areas stayed in at least D2 drought throughout the month.
