Multiple reports of 6 inches or greater were observed in the Helena Valley, including official NWS obs at the Helena Airport. The peak observation was 10.5 inches 2 miles west of Helena.

Wider weather episode

A compact H500 upper low opened into a wave as it moved from the Pac NW toward the Northern Rockies. Although weakening, this system still resulted in impressive lift through the DGZ, resulting in heavy snow across portions of the region.
