A couple of measured high wind gusts were reported at mesonet stations within Old Saybrook, CT. The first was 67 mph at the Reed Court station at 750 AM Local Standard Time. The other was 66 mph at the Maple Avenue station at 830 AM Local Standard Time.

Wider weather episode

A strong area of low pressure moved north along the U.S. east coast and passed through the region during the morning of December 18, 2023. The pressure gradient tightened as the center of the storm approached, producing high winds over Southern Connecticut during the morning hours.
