Power lines were downed by high winds near the intersection of Greenberry Road and Snake Creek Road.

Wider weather episode

A large upper trough moved eastward across the Central United States and into the Eastern United States through January 9. The associated surface low and strong trailing cold front resulted in a variety of weather hazards and impacts. Ahead of the main line of storms, a period of high winds, especially across the ridgetops along the higher terrain of the Blue Ridge.
