Wider weather episode
In the morning to mid afternoon on the 27th, strong winds moved over eastern Colorado gusty over 50 mph. Meanwhile a boundary moved through the area and caused bands of snow to form. As these bands of snow traversed the region, the winds, still gusting up to 40 mph near the time of the snow, reduced visibility down to 1/4 mile. These blizzard-like conditions only lasted for a brief time after the snow began, as the winds weakened as a snow band moved over. However, travel was dangerous during the onset of the snow squall.
