Extreme(D3) drought continued across the zone for the entire month. The Mountain Park Cooperative Observer reported 0.97 inches of precipitation, which was 0.20 inches below normal.
Wider weather episode
Most areas of southern New Mexico had near average or above average precipitation in January. This moisture helped to improve drought conditions slightly for portions of the region.
