Extreme(D3) drought continued through the month of January. The Cooperative Observer in Cloudcroft reported 2.98 inches of precipitation, which was 1.39 inches above normal.
Wider weather episode
Most areas of southern New Mexico had near average or above average precipitation in January. This moisture helped to improve drought conditions slightly for portions of the region.
