Event narrative

The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office reported that a homeless man (67m) was found dead on Third Street in downtown Evansville on the 15th. The autopsy identified the cause of death as hypothermia due to environmental exposure. Conditions were frigid on the 15th, with an early morning low of 4 and wind chills bottoming out at -10.

Wider weather episode

A long duration cold weather event was ongoing as northerly winds brought in Arctic air behind a low pressure system and cold frontal passage. Wind chills early the 15th bottomed out around -10 with lows of 0 to 5 in Southwest Indiana. One person died as a result of hypothermia from cold weather exposure in Evansville.
