The High Rolls Mesonet site recorded a peak gust of 65 mph. The Mescalero RAWS also recorded a peak gust of 58 mph.
Wider weather episode
A fast moving trough moved through the central Rockies with a 100 knot jet across much of New Mexico. Strong southwest winds ahead of a cold front gusted up to 96 mph and also created blowing dust with near-zero visibilities.
