SNOW SQUALL. An RWIS site near Snow Shoe recorded a rapid visibility drop with the road surface temperatures dropping to 33.4F at this site, but dropped below freezing at the site just across the Centre/Clearfield county boundary. Roads were slushy at the site across the county line and remained wet due to chemical treatment at this RWIS site.
Wider weather episode
Scattered snow squalls accompanied a brief shot of arctic air following a cold frontal passage on March 10, 2024. Some of these squalls produced visibilities below a quarter of a mile and briefly made roads slick.
