Event narrative

Minnesota State Patrol reported a fatal automobile accident near 08:45 AM CST on January 24th from a collision between a Freightliner M2 Straight truck and a Toyota Prius at the intersection of County Highway 30 and County Road 8 near High Forest Township. Nearby automated weather observations reported visibilities of one half to one eighth of a mile and freezing fog from 05:45 AM CST to 10:15 AM CST.

Minnesota State Patrol reported a fatal automobile collision between a Freightliner M2 Straight freight truck and a Toyota Prius at the intersection of Olmsted County Highway 30 and Olmsted County Highway 8 near 08:45 CST on January 24th. Nearby automated weather observation stations reported visibilities to one eighth of a mile and freezing fog at the estimated time of the collision. Minnesota State Patrol reported wet road conditions at the time of the vehicular accident. This dense fog was long-lived, more intense overnight, from January 23rd into January 29th. While some automated weather observation stations reported visibilities above 1 statute mile at times, predominant hourly visibility observations were less than 1 statute mile during the 5 to 6 day period.
