Winter Weather — Forest, Pennsylvania

2024-01-14 · Forest, Pennsylvania

Event narrative

A total of six inches fell at Tionesta, while a location near Marienville received 4.3 inches.

Wider weather episode

In the wake of the strong wind-producing surface low, a passing shortwave trough generated snow showers during the morning hours of January 14th. While accumulations were mostly light away from the ridges, cold advection and modest instability led to some briefly higher snowfall rates in heavier snow bands. This created low visibility at several area roadside sensors which, combined with gusty wind, led to brief snow squall conditions in some cases.
